DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1 - AKNG permanent or indefinite technicians, excepted or competitive civil service currently employed with the Alaska Army or Air National Guard.
Area 2 - All Traditional Guard or Active Guard Reserves (AGR) members currently employed with the Alaska Army or Air National Guard.
Area 3 candidates are all other current military members who are eligible and willing to join the Alaska Air National Guard.

Reviews all operations, mobility, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure combat readiness for the SF Squadron. Analyzes exercise and contingency plans to determine required SF actions in support of mission requirements. Evaluates all equipment, manning and training requirements to meet wartime, contingency, deployment, and pre-planned tasking. Coordinates with other base organizations on applicable plans. Manages the development of plans for deployment, disaster preparedness, base recovery, contingency response, and other related plans. Prepares, updates, and reviews the SF portion of the base deployment, disaster preparedness, base recovery, contingency response, and related plans. Ensures the SF unit meets requirements for wartime capability and AEF requirements. Responsible for proper security, classification, and storage of classified documents. Compiles information by identifying shortfalls and recommending corrective actions to Status of Resources and Training System (SORT) monitor on the status of SF personnel and training in all three classified reports. Serves as the alternate SORTs monitor. Oversees the coordination, review, and implementation of SF manning authorizations and military personnel assignments. Creates and implements the unit Force Management Plan for all Unit Type Code (UTC) teams as directed by MAJCOM. Monitors personnel who are affected by Air Force (AF) Specialty conversion actions and makes team assignments. Implements change to the mobility requirements and resource roster. Monitors personnel readiness. Implements AOR Reporting Instructions and local directives for the establishment and management of AF Deployment Folders. Serves as the SF commander's key staff member responsible for the overall management of the unit-training program by overseeing the planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating all unit training related items. Serves as a training consultant to all unit members and determines if quality-training programs are in effect within all sections. Implements and manages training programs, policies, and procedures, as directed by higher headquarters, commanders, and Base Training. Develops, manages, and conducts training in support of garrison and expeditionary mission requirements. Develops and coordinates training policy and program changes (including publications, supplements, and operating instructions) with work centers, unit commander, and other training managers, as appropriate. Identifies training actions required to maintain unit combat readiness. Prepares and briefs the monthly Status of Training report to the Unit Commander. Coordinates and schedules personnel to attend USAF technical schools and other formal training. Verifies eligibility of personnel requesting schools. Identifies, analyzes, forecasts, and submits formal school quotas and workday requirements. Coordinates annual SF Home Station Training, as well as, any required specialty training at Regional Training Centers or other training sites. Forecasts and coordinates to ensure training resources are available. Develops, administers, and oversees the management of the unit's training programs to supervisors. Instructs and coordinates train-the-trainer and task certifier courses for personnel. Administers the SF Squadron EST program which includes management, qualification, upgrade, job knowledge, proficiency, professional development, and general military training. Determines training requirements by reviewing and correlating documentation. Balances training needs against available resources. Directs the certification testing (CERTEST) program. Establishes and maintains the MAJCOM CERTEST data for SF CDC testing program. Advises the SF commander regarding support requirements to accomplish contingency and deployment operations. Coordinates airlift requirements with base LGRDX and NGB/A7. Submits written reports of completion to the unit commander and the base training office. Plans, formulates, analyzes, and coordinates budget submissions. Provides unfunded requirements and FIN PLAN recommendations. Coordinates with the financial management section for quarterly allocations and adjustments. Manages workday utilization of allocated training mandays in the organization. Serves as the primary Resource Advisor for the unit. Represents SF at wing training meetings. Provides input for base-wide operational, deployment, contingency, exercise planning, coordinating, and evaluating committees. When needed or directed, performs and enforces the full range of security forces duties within the military installation. Incumbent may be exposed to the day-to-day dangers of SF associated with law enforcement and security duties. Incumbent has full powers to detain, pursue, or direct detaining of person(s) fleeing a crime scene, active shooter, or attempting to resist arrest. Carries a firearm as required or directed. Performs other duties as assigned.

GS-09 - Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training in planning, directing, coordinating, and controlling base and law enforcement activities. Experience providing training in areas related to this position. Experience analyzing reports of investigations and maintaining security records.

Knowledge of commonly used methods, procedures, regulations, and other guides that relate to training programs within the United States AF, ANG, and SF career field.
Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems.
Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security training programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security-training program for the installation.
Skill in defining problem areas and in application of conventional training program management principles and concepts.
Knowledge of the responsibilities of logistics plans and support functions that interrelate with the incumbent's assignment.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge and understanding of AF, National Guard, and gaining command organizational structure, missions, and responsibilities.
Knowledge of SF reports and analysis of functions of information, industrial, and personnel security concepts, principles, and practices to participate in the planning and implementation of security training programs in these areas.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with SF branch and section chiefs, contributing to a cooperative work environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
Ability to instruct training courses in a classroom seminar setting.
Knowledge of applicable law enforcement and security AF, Federal, and DoD rules, regulations, instructions, practices, principles, and procedures including force protection, integrated base defense, anti-terrorism, and physical security.
Knowledge of SF procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of SF activities independently to include protection level resources, installation entry control, armed response, and dispatch.

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to become a member of the Alaska Air National Guard and be assigned to a compatible military assignment in the following AFSCs: 3P0X1.
MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, the minimum military grade of this position is Senior Airman (SrA/E4), and the maximum military grade of this position is Master Sergeant (MSgt/E7).
INDEFINITE: AKNG permanent technician will retain their permanent status if selected for this position, and may be promoted, reassigned or changed to lower grade if selected for this position, and will be required to return to their permanent position unless action is made on a permanent basis. Permanent authorization may not cross service boundaries, or funding categories, (i.e., ARNG to ANG, or 176th WG to 168th WG). Indefinite employees may be separated with a 30 days' notice. Indefinite employees may be converted to permanent without further competition.
